The Robin's Wing

On a warm July afternoon.. the air hot and heavy,
A cool breeze stirs from the west.
AS clouds begin to roll across
the sky, a true blessing of relief
from the midsummers heat...
The tall oak tree's...strong and proud..
began to dance back and forth.. from the
winds of the upcoming storm..
A young girl..just starting her descent into
becoming a woman.. runs for shelter in the arms
of her Grandmother..
The rains begin gently.. but ever so steadily
becomes harder...
Filling the hot July air
with glorious smells only
found in a summer's afternoon thunderstorm.
They sit together quietly, barely speaking a word..
in a large chair by the open living room window,
just watching the wonders of Nature and taking
in all the sights, sounds, and smells of the storm.
Then the Grandmother.. gently lifts her finger, pointing at
a large oak tree swaying just outside the window..
There a robin..sits along side of her newly made
nest.. her wings spread open.. So to let any drops
