| Silence by goeswith3faces Grandma was dead after a long and honorable life. Her family more than loved her and they come from Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Bowman, Fergus Falls, and Atlanta, to pay their last respect to Grandma. It is the first time since years that the whole family comes together and it is the first time since years that some of them sit at one table again. Now they sit around Grandpa in a small room. No noise is to hear without the raindrops those drop through the roof into the Grandpas house, like the memories of good old times drop into their minds. A depressing silence dominates the atmosphere. When the wicasa wakan, grandmothers best friend, had spoken about Grandma, her life, and family, young eyes grow big because of surprise. Lips quiver without speaking a word and spirits went back in time until they reached the point when a family had been, what a family should be. Memories awake. Mistakes were made. Questions come up those are unpleasing to answer. The voice of youth takes the word: Grandpa, why didnt you or Grandma told us about all this? Grandpas eyes were tired and with quiet voice he answered: Why did you never ask? Silence swallows up the tracks that were left for next generations and a voice of wisdom becomes silent With Love and Greatest Respect to all lives on Mother Earth ~ Goes-with-three-faces ~ |
