| Porcupine by alilar2 My grandfather(96 years young now),is a traditional Mohawk,as my grandmother. My grandfather always was taking injured animals(whatever they may be)home with him.One day,a small porcupine was injured, and he brout it home.He called him Spike. After a while,he began to grown on them,so they decided to keep him awhile. My grandmother got sick of cleaning up after him, and trained him to use a litterbox under a sink.He learned fast and well. One night,my granfather heard a noise downstairs. There was Spike standing up against the picture window watching some other porcupines in the front yard. And he was whining. My grandparents talked the next day,and agreed to let him go.He wasn't gone for 3 minutes, before they began to worry."He's never been outside, think he will run in the road?" Next evening,my grandfather heard a noise outside. He opened the door and could see something coming down the hill.As it came closer,he realized it was Spike. He hollared for my grandmother. She was also happy. They called to him. When he heard them,he came on a dead run.My grandmother was ready to catch him and love him,but he ran directly between her legs and into the house.Grandfather said he must be really pleased to be home. When they went inside,he was using his litterbox!Never went outside, waited for his box.True Story.I swear! ~Alice~ |
