Of Legends and Conjecture

A long time ago Green Crystal and Black Crystal did battle. They were of opposite beliefs. Green Crystal was of the Earth Mother, and Black Crystal hailed from below. Each was as powerful as the other and they fought long and hard.

It is said that Green Crystal met with Black Crystal in the darkness where Black Crystal dwelled. Their battle was so terrible the ground trembled, and Thunder Mountain rumbled for two long days.

I will not go into the particulars of the battle itself, or how it all had come about. That is another story--far too long to mention here. It is enough to say battle between good and evil is never a pretty one, and that Green Crystal did emerge the victor. But this is not the part of the story I wish to convey to you. It is what came of Green Crystal and Black Crystal long after the battle was done.

Black Crystal still dwells in the bowels of the earth, and every so many years, when the pull of the planets are at their strongest, a time when fish walk on land and rivers run uphill, that he sends out his eyes and ears in search of openings into this world we live in. It is the duty of a small clan I shall call Eyes of the Raven, to in such times watch for those same openings, and to beat back Black Crystal at any cost. It has been this way for as long as I can remember, and far longer than even that.

I tell you all this because both Green Crystal and Black Crystal are long dead and buried, but their battle for power still goes on. I should also mention Green Crystal and Black Crystal are known by these names for the Talasmans they posessed--the root of their power.

Both the Green and the Black crystal were thought lost forever in that fierce battle of good over evil, yet a most recent discovery poses a different question. Such a crystal has been uncovered and returned to the Eyes of the Raven clan. I ask you, could this be a time of when fish walk on land and rivers flow uphill?
