In The Land of Pingy Pangy
by

In the land of Pingy Pangy live the Very Purple Bees
Who make Very Purple Honey from the Pingy Pangy Trees.
These Very Purple Bees buzz around these trees for hours,
Making Very Purple Honey from the Pingy Pangy flowers.
Pingy Pangy land is smaller than the tiniest little star
But this teensy-weensy kingdom is well known, both near and far.
Because Very Purple Honey is the sweetest of all sweets
And all Sandy Bears slurp honey as an in-between meal treat.
Sandy bears ride to Pingy Pangy high upon their camel's humps.
The youngest bears ride on their mother's backs
And squeal, "Wheee!!!!" when the camels hit bumps.

Now, everyone who's anyone knows Sandy Bears are polite.
They never speak rudely to a bee; they say their words just right.
First, they climb down from their camels
Or sometimes they like to jump.
And the mother bears catch their babies
Who like to slide down the camel's humps.
Then the friendly little Sandy Bears, who rarely cry or whine
Start with the smallest of them all and form a great long line,
A line that stretches out for feet,
Why one time I saw the Sandy Bear line almost read the street!

With the smallest bears at the front of the line
And the biggest bears at the end,
They try to get some honey and they always begin, "Dear friends,
Dear friends, we've come to say hello and see how you have been.
We can come back if you're busy. Are you busy? Tell us friends."
With that the Very Purple Bees stop being buzzy busy.
They know Sandy Bears live far away.
They know Sandy Bears like honey.
So the Very Purple Bees, after a visit with Sandy Bears,
Say, "We think we hear some growling.
Is that your tummies that we hear?"
Sandy Bears say, "Please, forgive us.
We missed our afternoon snack.
We didn't realize the time.
Oh, we must be getting back!"
But the bees say, "You need Very Purple Honey.
You must stay. We insist.
We can't bear the thought of sending you off
With tummies growling and rumbling like this!"

So, the Very Purple Bees give Sandy Bears Very Purple Honey
And the Sandy Bears thank the Very Purple Bees,
They thank them very kindly,
As the bears pass the honey down the line
Saying, "Thank you, it's really yummy!"
When all the Sandy Bears have eaten, and taken a nap beneath the
trees,
Before they climb aboard their camels, they holler to the bees,
"This really was so wonderful!
This really was jolly fun!
And if you ever need our help, we'll be here on the run!"
Now the Very Purple Bees through the Sandy Bears were silly,
No bee would ever need a bear,
They knew this positively!
But soon Very Purple Bees had a problem, and it was quite a dilly!

Now the roots of Pingy Pangy trees grow quite deep,
Deep down into the ground where Icky Grub Nibs creep.
On a day, just like today, and no one knows just why
Icky Grub Nibs climbed out of the ground and looked around to spy.
Icky Grub Nibs are not nice. They look like a very fat bubble
And they've been known to ruin whole bee hives,
Causing bees a lot of trouble!
For yicky Icky Grub Nibs carry squirt bags in their feet
And out of their icky squirt bags they shoot yicky yucky ink.
Yicky yucky ink that ruins the looks of trees and flowers.
When their ink ruins Pingy Pangy trees, they shout
"Ha-ha! They're ours!"
It was early in the morning when the Very Purple Bees
Start their early morning buzzing in the Pingy Pangy trees
That those Icky Grub Nibs came a creeping-
They came to squirt the trees.

Now one of the Very Purple Bees was taking a break from buzzing.
He looked down at the tree roots and saw Icky Grub Nibs coming.
The Very Purple Bee started to buzz and holler loudly,
"Look out! Look out! Look down below!
Icky Grub Nibs! Danger! Danger!"

The Very Purple Bees were frightened.
They buzzed, "What are we going to do?"
We're no match for Icky Grub Nibs."
And they began to cry, "Boo-Hoo!"
But one of the Very Purple Bees buzzed,
"Stop boo-hooing, we still have time!
Have you forgotten Icky Grub Nibs
Move slowly just like slime?
Fly fast to get the Sandy Bears! Tell them of our troubles!
They always said if we needed them, they'd be here on the double!"
It was not long thereafter that the Sandy Bears appeared
Riding high upon their camels shouting,
"Don't worry bees, we're here!"
Sandy bears leaped down from their camels
And ran fast as they could to the trees.
They looked straight at the Icky Grub Nibs and said,
"Excuse us, if you please. We are the Sandy Bears
Who like Very Purple Honey and if you would be so kind,
We'd like to know what's on your mind."

The yicky Icky Grub Nibs stopped their slinky slimy climbing.
They looked down at the Sandy Bears and started icky whining,
"What are you Sandy Bears doing here?
Pingy Pangy trees don't concern you.
We're sure there must be better things that you can go and do."
The Sandy Bears, undaunted, said, "We've an interest in these trees.
We get Very Purple Honey from the Very Purple Bees
And we've come to help protect them all-
Bees
Honey
And trees."

The Icky Grub Nibs looked at the Sandy Bears
And said, "You don't understand,
Our ink bags are so full of ink, why we can hardly stand!"
Now, the Sandy Bears had problems
And their problems were all of these,
They'd promised they would be there to help the Very Purple Bees
And there would be no more honey
If there was ink all over the trees.
But they couldn't hurt Icky Grub Nibs
Who had squirt bags full like these!

So the Sandy Bears looked up at the trees and said,
"Everybody STOP! We need some time to think of an answer, so
Stop! Stop! Stop!
You Grub Nibs, stop your sliding climbing
And stop making honey, bees.
There must be a way that we all can win.
Think hard everybody, please."
They sat there for a long, long time.
They sat there for a week!
Then a mother Sandy Bear quietly said,
"May I be allowed to speak?
You Icky Grub Nibs want to squirt your ink
And your ink doesn't kill the trees;
And if the ink doesn't kill the trees,
It shouldn't hurt you bees.
The only solution that I see is you must share the trees."

This had never occurred to the Grub Nibs.
It had never occurred to the bees.
The only problem now was how to share the trees.
An Icky Grub Nib said, "Say bees, you only use the flowers,
What if you took the top of the trees
And we called the tree trunks ours?"
The Very Purple Bees then said, "That sounds very fine.
But to be very certain, we will need a boundary line.
We could take our honey and draw a ring around the trees.
All tree trunk below would belong to you
And the rest would belong to the bees.

Then the Sandy Bears climbed aboard their camels
And made marks upon the trees,
And there they all smeared honey
Made by Very Purple Bees.
Now everyone was happy,
All Grub Nibs, Bears and Bees
Because all had won what they wanted
And
Everyone
Was
Pleased.
