Our Mother
by

The earth as I remember is no longer here and we are left to fend for ourselves.
Our Mother is unable to take us into her bosom, since we are responsible for
her degradation.

The light that we see at the end of tunnel is not the light our salvation, but the light of our destruction.

The pride in our youthful innocence is loss and children no longer think as children do.

Instead they hold their fist high in their angry defiance, because we have destroyed any chance they had for a future.

Hopes and dreams exist no more, since they are trampled beneath the waste
of our bureaucratic ignorance.

Alcohol, drugs, and greed will be destroyers of our people.

Once we stood tall and proud and said, "Deal with me, I am the keeper of my Mother....I am her first child".

Now we stand before her with our heads bowed in shame, our naked bodies infested with the diseases of civilization.

It is time to turn to the rising sun and say, "I am ready, to be reborn".

It is time to pick up the drums and sing the songs of our fathers.

This time we must listen to the words carefully, because they fore tell our future.
