| God In A Parachute by iwalkwiththewolf Through the clouds I saw God in a parachute, slowly drifting downward somewhere over Antarctica. His arms were outstretched and a peculiar warmth, vague but strangely comforting, radiated from Him. Where had I felt that warmth before? Unlike the sun's warmth but somehow so important in my life. The clouds parted before Him to sanction His descent. "How wonderful to see You," I exclaimed with joy. "But what brings You to this coldness I endure? You mustn't stay too long or You will become as I, over-frozen, ever-longing, death-enduring. And how is it that You've come to visit at a time when I'd just begun to think of You as myth?" He radiated Life and Hope and Justice. There was a sweet perfume of innocence about Him. Then I looked directly into God's eyes and, lo and behold, there was the warmth I had felt when I first saw Him. He drew me into His eyes of love. I felt my thawing body floating into Him and felt an ecstasy I'd never known. "Have you come to take me home?" I asked. ***** The coroner shook his head and said in his gruff voice, "I hate these damned winter street people. What the hell are they thinking about? You'd think when they saw the others starve or freeze to death, they'd want something better for themselves. Why the hell don't they find a place to go?" jmm copyright 2002 all rights reserved |
