| Impressions by LouReeves First impressions are important, To that, I sometimes agree, Yet there are second impressions, That mean so much to me. Sometimes there are facades, To break or get behind, And there at times discover, A woman of a different kind. But I know what can be lost, If an interest does exist, And this can be found, If the eyes do not resist. I often think of an incident, Years have passed since that day, Of a young girl in tattered clothes, And not a word did I say. I was immature and rather shy, And regret has been the cost. She was a student with a mind, And often I wonder what I had lost. So with eyes and the mind, Second impressions are there, For me to study and conclude, Her worth for further prayer. Thus friends I have, Through impressions gained, With which I have proceeded, Feeling little constrained. And that is life, as people meet, Engulfed in impressions are they, And through time, they do learn, If a friendship is there to stay. |
