| Icy Times by goeswith3faces A room filled with smoke. Streams of beer and whisky make senses deaf. Eyes search eyes but cannot see. Hands search hands but cannot feel. Lips speak without a word. Ears hear without understanding. Hearts beat without feelings. Laughter without joy. Thoughts without reason. Existing without life. The little boy came in, to take his father home. Mum didnt want to enter this place anymore; she was left in tears and fear at home. It was easy to find Dad because he was like all the time the only one who slept with his head on the table. They were calling Dad when he was sober, Chief or Tonto, but when he was slammed like now, they show their real faces and called him scornfully plains-nigger and even more awful terms. Dad told Mum and him many times how much the people in town respected him. He had never the heart to tell Dad the truth about what he had heard in situations like this from the people in town. They were laughing at him when he tried to lift his Dad from the chair and made jokes about him and his family. He had to fight back his tears and the need that he felt inside to deck all these goddamn clunkheads. He was crapped out when he reached home and sure, that he wouldnt be able to stay the course any longer. Next day when Dad become clear he will promise Mum to shape up and that he will be off the sauce and not a week later, he will psych out again and he will take a run out into the next bar again. Oh God, when do this all will find an end He becomes sad by remembering this all what happened to Mum and Dad. A couple of month later Dad lost his job in the factory because of boozing and not two years later, he drank himself to death. Mum died a year later on a broken heart and he was left alone. The following years had been his hardest school of life, but however he stands it. When he was 25, he met Maggie and from this time, his life changed completely. Now they are married and they have two wonderful children. He smiled by thinking about them and his heart became warm by thinking of coming home for Christmas. It was horrible cold outside. He was waiting for the train when he decided to enter the little bar near the station, to warm up a little bit. It was the first time that he entered a bar since he married Maggie and the bar makes his memories in seconds alive. A room filled with smoke. Streams of beer and whisky make senses deaf. Eyes search eyes but cannot see. Hands search hands but cannot feel. Lips speak without a word. Ears hear without understanding. Hearts beat without feelings. Laughter without joy. Thoughts without reason. Existing without life. In his mind, he could smell the Christmas tree and Maggies seductive skin and he could see his childrens wide opened and full of expectation eyes. His heart was filled with the warmth of his familys love, when he ordered a big and hot cup of coffee Sorry, for the awfull language but I tried to tell you like things had been.
