| How The R Came To Be by � arnbo Many years ago two of our tribal leaders were sent to the highest mountain on our REZ and were told not to return until they were given a sign on what to name our REZ. After days of fasting, still no sign, so they climbed to a higher point and while doing so one of the leaders loin cloth was caught in a fence. Not knowing how to get out, he ripped his cloth and his privates were visible. He asked his fellow elder what he should do. After some thought the elder saw an Eagle flying above and instructed his friend,"WELL PIN IT", seeing the Eagle he then came up with the name of Wellpinit. This is now our name today. Just a little Spokane humor I thought I'd share with ya!!! |
