Giving and Keeping

Wisdom is the most elusive of the Powers; it can come on any Day, from any Direction and at any Time in Life. We can only strive for it and try to hold on to it, for it is difficult to retain as well as difficult to find. The North is a Time of Giving {and} keeping: a Time of knowing how much to hold on to and how much to pass on. The farmers of old harvested the fruits of the Fall to sustain them through the Winter. If they used it all, they would have nothing to sow the next Spring, so they needed to know how much to keep and how much to eat. This, too, is the power of the North; knowing what to release and what to keep safe for later.... |
