| Earth by LouReeves Insect many...here and there, The bat selecting, with some care. On the land, wolf and hare, With many buffalo and the bear. And water, everywhere, very clear, With streams and lakes often near. Waterfowl here...the eagle there, And many birds flying in the air. Then rushing water to the sea, Leaving behind tranquility, To find ocean spray and waves so high, With the distant horizon touching the sky. From the waters, fish did come, With numbers greater than any sum. Thus from the land and the water...everywhere, Sufficient food for all, beyond compare. And all in balance did exist, Then came man who could not resist, Wanting power and dominion over all, Thus leading to much downfall. Over hunting and fishing too, Losses there were through and through. Explortion for wealth and all they could, They took from others what they never should. And man's inhumanity was in evidence, Beyond comprehension and with much offense. So, over time the world did change, Now the hope is to rearrange. The structures of government that do require, Substantial change that one would desire. Then the earth, a happier place would be, For all creatures, including you and me! |
