She Was The Wind

The day was full of sorrow and tears,
It was a day everyone took the time
To realize their own fears,
They have been too busy to remember their own time.
The Preacher said the words he was asked to say,
Doing his best since they had never really met,
Never met her until that day,
The day she was laid down to rest.
The wind was blowing hard against the makeshift tent,
It was hard to hear his every word he had to say,
The wind blew her beautiful quilt from her body with intent
To make sure no one would forget her day.
Her beautiful flowers were blown over,
Her quilt wouldn't stay in place,
It was as if she was the wind blowing over
Her Burial place, the wind in their face.
Maybe that was her way
Of letting everyone know
That she wanted to have her last fun on her last day
Here with them before she had to finally go.
The men and women sang their Indian songs,
Their songs settled the wind,
`Cause she knew she could no longer do any wrongs,
The Euchee songs settled the wind.
Everyone passed in a line
To throw dirt into her beautiful grave,
One young boy cried his tears as he waited in that line,
One young boy who had to prove to himself he was a Brave.
Now she is a part of everyone's past,
She's no longer here for anyone to see,
But her memories will always last,
Her memories were left for her friends and family.
The young boy is still sad in his heart,
He thinks she has left his side,
But she never did part,
She's with him, walking with him, side by side.
