Their Indian Flag

Some children asked the old Indian couple
Why their Flag was flying in the wind when the wind was still
She answered to their wondrous minds,
"Our Flag is made from the blood,
The souls and the stars
That belongs to only our Indian people
The Red stripes are for our Red skin,
Our Red blood,
The Red soil we lived on
The white stripes are the snowflakes
That fell on my many Ancestors
That traveled down a trail they thought never ended
The blue is the feeling they all felt
When so many died along the way there
The white stars are the symbols of the bright stars
That watched over them all the way
One bright star led our fallen Ancestors to Indian Heaven
They seemed to have been the lucky ones cause they died
No more breaks of their hearts
The unlucky ones were watched by the remaining stars
As they made it to the end of that trail
The Flag flies with no wind at its back as far as your white eyes can
see
If you had the eyes of a Red man you wouldn't have had to ask
Cause if you did, you could see the fallen Eagle Spirits,
The Indian Spirits riding with the wind
They're flying all around up there, flapping their wings
So our Indian Flag will always fly with all the Glory
It so deserves
The reason it flies up in the clouds so far is so your white hands
Can't touch it and take it away from us"
