I Just Knew

The line of Red people was long and moved slowly as each
Red soul shook hands with their Creator as He welcomed them into
The Sacred land of the Great Beyond
One Indian woman shuffled her tired feet so she could be last in line
So the others would pass her bye
She shook hands with Him then said,
"Thank you for sending us here
I just knew what your plan was from the beginning
I knew you sent the cold snow the day we had to start
Our travels down the white mans trail
That would have led us to the white mans hell
I just knew you wanted it all to end
I just knew we were going to freeze
So we could finally reach our true destiny
Our chosen place to be
So many stayed behind
Why did they stay at the mercy of the white eyes?
This is something I don't know, don't understand"
He held her hand and explained,
"The ones traveling on asked not to come here today
They want to prove to the white eyes they are strong Red people
With strong Indian blood boiling in their veins
No matter what happens
No matter how long it takes"
