Dreams

In a wispy moment,
A single thread of time,
A world bloomed, and decayed
AS quickly as season passing by.

Captured by a silver maiden,
Only beheld within her eye,
Life brought forth abundance,
Simply let to die.

Led astray to evil hands
Mended by so few,
A blissful re-consideration,
Droplet sprinkled dew.

Seasons changed upon the land,
Dreams dropped in the mud-
All the hope one ever had,
Lie in the fresh sprayed blood.

What does their little minds perceive,
While playing their fairy games?
Sticks for swords and rocks for food-
Imagination binds their chains.

When the thread of time is cut,
The breeze beckons it away-
The haunted laughter through the trees,
Where maidens and princes will always play.

The world of a child-
The innocence at hand,
Shattered just so easily,
And tossed upon the sand.

What causes us to lose our hope,
And put our toys to rest?
Why does the magic fade in the night,
Upon lifes hardest test?

Why do so few refuse to believe,
And imagine ever more?
Without all of our fairy dreams-
Our lives are forever poor.

When you close your eyes at night,
But before you've fallen asleep-
Do you only ponder problems?
Or endlessly count sheep?

Try instead to look ahead,
And play out all your dreams-
Imagine being the maiden or prince,
And dawdling by streams.

Before you even realize-
Before you can think twice-
You are taken far from home,
Lifes most scrumptous slice.

Sleep slides through the open gate,
To settle in your eyes-
A childs never far from dreams-
You need only realize.

It doesn't take naievety
To touch the wings of life,
To ride upon a unicorn,
Or hold a fairy knife.

Limitless dreams carry the child on
Who only fears the nightly dark;
Just because they learn to do their math-
Doesn't mean they give up the park!

Dreams should never die alone-
Inside a forgotten mind,
Carry on your busy life-
But never leave imagination behind!
