Looking for Love
by

Are you looking for love? Then what do you offer?
What dowry pours forth from your emotional coffer?
I can't find salvation in the arms of a stranger
Will you show me that love's not a species endangered?

In the wine of your drunk, in the depths of your deep
Will you show me how, rock me now, gently to sleep?
In the dark of your flame, in the cold of your heat
Will you dance with the gods to my timid heartbeat?

Will you be my child, for my breasts long to suckle?
Will you be my strength when my knees start to buckle?
Will you speak me your dreams? Will you write me your sonnet?
Will you dance Heyoka in Grandfather's war bonnet?

Will you be the warrior, holding the picket?
Will you machete your way through your emotional thicket?
Will you make me laugh til I near lose my bladder?
Will you reserve me a place on each rung of your ladder?

Will you take me to places that I've never been;
Open my eyes to sights that I've never seen?
Will you stimulate both my body and mind?
Can you teach me to see with the eyes of the blind?

If this you can promise ? All this and more
Then come to me now across this wide floor
Come to me now with your heart on your sleeve
Lay it gently before me and make me believe

And take what I offer, my sacrifice in kind
My body, my soul, my heart and my mind
If you are willing to answer the call
Be everything or be nothing at all

If you can see me complete, just as I stand here
Then you can offer your all without any fear
Not two who are less than because of the giving
But two complete beings who grow more through living
