The Lazy River

I've been touched so many times
why won't the answer see.
Always my question,
will our love ever be?

Down the river of dreams we drift,
lazy afternoons desire.
If only time stood still for us
my arms would never tire.

Down our dreamy river where
the peaceful water flows.
Down through the bottom land
where the corn and melons grow.
Drifting with the currents
on our way to who knows.

Dream me a river
of content and I shall be,
forever in your debt
and promises I'll keep.

Past a mountain holler.
Our eyes are damp from happiness.
Take a gentle current
No tears to stain your dress.

Down our dreamy river where
the peaceful water flows.
Down through the bottom land
where the corn and melons grow.
Drifting with the currents
on our way to who knows.
