Inside The Shirt

To touch the hands that time brought
back and feel the senses grow.

To have a vision repeated,
some seeing where he rode.

The familiar of his beating heart
within the faded shirt.

The stains and smells of freedom,
his pleasures and his hurts.

Some tears of happiness,
some of sorrowed pain.

To see mountains untouched
and as he rode the across plains.

The wanting look up in the sky
as he lay in final peace.

Knowing wed all join him soon
put his mind at ease.

The family gather round him
preparing for encasement.

The bonds of wrap encumbered
as he lay on stilts internment.
