Finally

Onward he walked up the mountain of forgiveness. The early morning mist mixed with his tears as they stained his buckskin blouse. Narrow rocky ledges taken in faith alone being unaware of the danger lurking below. Blurred were the mountain flowers, deaf were the eagles screams, numb were the chills of frost, gone were his dreams. The rock crags echoed silent footsteps of a walking spirit unliving, undead. Weathered stone loosened its hold and cascaded down into space sounded unheard from high above. A journey of a hundred miles, of a thousand miles, of a life of miles ends here keeping company with lone scrag pines warped and twisted beyond normality. A goat hides his form in motionless breath unmoving. Blending as one with the landscape his bleating a distant diminished cry. Siblings frozen in stride as the mountain absorbed them. Step by step though unfeeling he continued. The chapel of the creator opened its arms as he stood on the precipice eyes closed as he felt the wind in his face. Each hand outstretched held the eagles feather. One of pride and one of honor the quills embedded in the palms they fluttered in the breeze. A boned and beaded breast plate necklace vertical in his bow of prayer wavered under his beating heart. He felt the cold air as it whistled past his falling body. Endless in its search for forgiveness it fell. Finally he felt alive. Finally he saw the sky.  Finally he felt the earth. Now he held her hand. Now he knew her touch. Now he felt her kiss. Now he saw her smile. Now, finally, he died. <-.->  <,.->  <_ _>
