| Princess of Enchanted Woods by chibilunacat While the wind blows through the woods, It gently sighs its breath, And floats across the maiden fair Who lie beside a stream. A wreath of flowers crowns her head- As gentle locks fall about her A hair of brown with hints of red Which curls about her face. The gentle words of which she sings Is catching in the ears of all- The forrest creatures stop and listen, To the sound of loveliness. The sound flows from her ruby lips The color of delicious apples- Her cheeks are flushed with her cheer, A rouge on creamy white. The flowers sway as though they dance Bowing to the maidens voice- Her eyes of green stare gently up, Into the azure sky. The clouds move on in marshmellowy race- Creeping across the orange sun, The leaves rustle, steadily chattering, And the maiden climbs to her feet. She twirls a bit while singing still, Her wreath slips to one side, She moves her hand to steady it Her tune carried on all the same. She giggles as she sings to creatures Perched in branches of the trees, A birdy hops onto her fingers And sings along with pride. The breeze stills, the trees fall silent, The birdy flies away, The animals scurry as though disturbed- Something is moving towards her. The song drifts away to the thickness of woods The maiden turns to watch- Out of the shadows, into the clearing, Approaching her, a stranger. He bows to her, with a gentle smile And speaks to her his name, She listens, smiling, quite curriously, Not understanding his strange tongue. He takes her hand inside his own She feels its strong yet gentle touch, She looks at their hands, clasped together And giggles into the silence. His eyes of blue catch hers of green And speak without a word; The gentle breeze moves his hair, The golden locks sweep off his brow. His sweet red lips move towards hers But she runs away with a giggle, Laughing he gives his chase, Through the winding woods. She leads him on to a wonderous place, No mortal had ever seen, He looked around with eyes so wide, She couldn't help but laugh. A thousand fairies fluttered with glow And stopped to look their way, A few approached to curriously look At the stranger in their garden. He grasped the maidens hand afraid But she only laughed with ease, A fairy tugged upon his ear, Another, the leg of his pants. He laughed himself and raised one hand With the palm raised up towards the sky, A fairy child climbed right on and sat, Tugging at his thumb. A creek was babbling off to the side, Where some fairies played with fish, Fairy houses rested in trees, alight A village of pure magic. The maiden talked in mystic tongue To several who approached her- After a while they twinkled away, And the maiden led him on. They twisted farther into the woods, Untill the stranger was lost, The maiden only led him onwards, surely, Her movements filled with grace. In a clearing stood a horse, White as mounds of snow- When it raised its head to look, The saw a single horn. The horse bowed to the maiden fair, And she moved to stroke its mane- She whispered softly in its ear, And beckoned the stranger come closer. She led him on, into the woods Showing him many places A mystic enchantment hung in the air, A fantastic, pleasant energy. One final clearing they approached, And the maiden waved her hand- Servants appeared and brought them food, And a bit for them to drink. The dined upon the springy ground, Only talking with their eyes, When they were done she lay with him, Their secret passions intertwined. The love was sweet, filled with magic, And brought them to deep night, The stars twinkled overhead, and happy- As the two fell into sleep. In the morning he woke alone, And sat up, and heaved a sigh, He dressed in silence, full of sadness- And ate the fruit left by his side. As he stood he heard a giggle, And the maiden approached in smiles, His happiness returned full force, and showed, By running across his lips in grin. He opened his arms to welcome her, But she took his hand instead, She placed inside it a fragrant flower, A lily of pure white. She closed both hands of his around it, Pushing it to his chest, He smiled in wonder, and obeyed- While she began to sing. She sat him down against a tree, The breeze blew through their hair, The rustling leaves whispered overhead- And she gently kissed his lips, The words ended and he gently fell asleep, From which he'd never wake As man, but as a beast, With fur instead of clothes. He looked around him, now so small- The world seemed rather large, The maiden pet his velvet back, And tugged his cottony tail. A snow white rabbit he became, And snuggled in her lap, The clearing filled with many creatures, The had come to her as men. The sound laughter filled the woods, As many children came in sight, Many children, made with men, That would be men no more. The maiden san with all her babies, And played with the gentle creatures, That all had once tasted her love, And now called woods their home. In the forrest, sometimes you hear her, But perhaps you should turn away, For once ensnared within her song, You may never be seen again. Oh princess of enchanted woods- With flowers in your hair, The wind does ever carry your voice, To lead all our men away! Terra Mae 5/13/2002 |
