| The Crossroads by baldy_4 I am a young boy nigh unto manhood, The entire village my backyard. Not a care or a whim withstood, For the lessons of life sometimes come hard. If only youth lasted my life span, But alas we all have to face the tests. These trials may take me across this land. I am feeling a longing to leave the nest. But should I undertake and fail, These tests set before me to pass? Should I lift my voice in a wail? Or renew my spirit in a prayer fast. Dance and pray, pray and dance. Give me the strength oh Grandfather bear. To undertake and face this chance. Give me wisdom to face this with care. I must make this choice and I alone. With only my prayers to guide me. To lay upon the grass or sit upon the stone. The answer must come from with inside me. One path of ease' and one of toil. From these I must choose my way. One path of rock' and one of soil. I must chose this day before the sun does fade. To the crossroads I have come. Remain a boy or become a man. A decision I must make only one. I have decided to make my stand. To take my place in our tribe. One man one spirit one path. Take these things to heart as I scribe. I'll defend this as no man hath. |
