It had been a while since they had seen one another. They had a special friendship. Each was not what the other had expected as they had conversed on the phone. He sounded like the prim and proper minister by his voice. Picturing a slender man frail with thinning hair. That vision no where near matched the norse viking standing before her. She a woman whose name he thought was sad and solemn found the beauty of it when they met and shared stories. They embraced.
You are so tense she asked why. He became sad and explained that the doctors had found a mass near his heart. They were in the beginning of tests to find out if it was a cancer as they had feared. She held him tighter and looked into his eyes and said have no fear it will no longer be there.

On the day of his MRI she slept and dreamed. She transported to a place not for all eyes. A strong place so familiar. She sat under a tree and watched. Dancers circled a fire in the cassum of the desert. She watched them intently understanding what they were doing. Suddenly a large magnificent bird descended slowly near her. She reached up to touch it. The creature was the purest of white she was compeled just to touch it once. Reaching gently her fingers grazed the tip of its feathers and then it was gone.

From the distance came one lone man. He simply asked did you touch it. Did the bird allow you to touch it's feathers. She replied yes and all disappeared. The dream ended and she was once again in her bed.

She saw her friend once again. Embracing him again she asked how the tests went. What did it show? He answered with a stare and said they were stunned the mass had dissappeared. It no longer existed. She smiled and embraced him once again knowing what had taken place.
