| About Conversations by goeswith3faces Like a whistling wind, a mumbling creek or the sound of pouring rain, the lovely and guiding voice of Great Spirit Grandfather comes to us. His voice is the call of understanding, truth, compassion, and reason. His voice is reaching us on the wings of love and in appreciation to our current situations. Like a fathers hand, he offers us his wisdom and his guidance day by day. That is what makes us rich and that is what makes our religion alive to now. His voice is clear and true like the water of a creek that arises from the mountains and his call never knew the need of flattery, praise, loudness, deceitfulness or exaggerated manners. We were taught to communicate in the same clearness. We were taught to take the time for conversations and never beginning a conversation at once or in a hurry. We were taught to listen quietly and attentively. We were taught to be not quick with questions. We were taught to think before speaking, because no knife is more keen and dangerous than a thoughtless spoken word. We were taught not to press anybody to answer. We were taught to make pauses in conversations, because it is a polite way for conducting a conversation and to give the time for a thought. It is also a courteous way to pay the speakers and their words the attention they earn. We were taught not to use our words for self-presentation or self-promotion. We were taught to mature a thought that will be of service to our people. Our reasons for conversations are sharing and exchange of thoughts and opinions. People may call me a homebred man, but even in simplicity, I found more truth than in many fine high sounding-words. May Great Spirit Grandfather give, that I will never forget this lesson In Great Respect to all lives on Mother Earth. ~ Goes-with-three-faces ~ |
