| A Sacred Place - The Beginning by goeswith3faces I came to this place years ago and it seemed to me the first time that Id been there. A silent drum was guiding me to a place directly next to the highway of life. The sky was overclouded and nearly no sunbeam reached the earth. It was a center of belief and I felt a spiritually power when my feet touched the ground, but I was also shocked by the waste that I saw laying around. Pieces and shreds of dreams were laying around like shreds of old newspapers. Voices whispered without context and without sense to the silent beat of the drum that guided me the whole time. Tears ran out of whisky bottles and beer cans, and left dark and muddy puddles on the ground like greasy oil. The tree of life was standing there vestigial and unheeded since years. It nearly lost all its leaves. A messenger, a she-wolf looked at me with sorrowful eyes. It was emaciated and its pelt was squalid and unkemptly. A second messenger, an owl with a broken wing skipped around, crying for help and unable to fly. I was sad by seeing all this and I start to become angry. Who on earth could leave a sacred place like this ? I did not finish my thought when I recognized the silent drumbeat as my own heartbeat and the place I was called to, became increasingly familiar to me. I identified the pieces and shreds of dreams as my own; the tears those ran out of the whisky bottles and beer cans as my own tears of desperateness and the dark clouds as my own blanket of doubts that kept me away since years from creations light. I was disappointed about myself. Sadness filled my heart. What a fool Id been since years. Blinded by ostensible self-assurance, success, and pride I ran over years in danger to loose my own roots without recognizing it. My messengers came to me and I took them in my arms and asked them in thin voice to forgive me that I made them suffering this way. We sat down under the tree of life, when I sang my song of debt and when I ask Great Spirit Grandfather to forgive. The clouds became darker and my messenger came closer and closer to me when Father Sky opened his sluices to wash away all the waste and dirt at my sacred place with healing rain. When the rain stopped, my sacred place was clean again like it had been for the very first time and my tree of life took its first little buds since years. It took its time until the owl could fly again and until the she-wolf appeared in its naturally beauty. Now my tree of life wears its leaves again, the owl is able to fly and my heart beats faster when the she wolf welcomed me with its beauty and grace. The wind whispers and Im able to understand its voice. Sometimes I discern that I lost a little piece of waste at my sacred place, but together with my friends, Im able to keep my sacred place clean.
