A Mother's Anguish

Oh please try to hear me my son for I am crying,
Here I sit weeping and dying,
You have turned your back on me along with others,
Why have you done this, to me you are no other.

My heart is shredded and stomped into the ground,
How is it that my heart will ever once again be found,
You yell at me, scream at me, and once before hit and cussed me out,
I ask myself, is this my son, I wonder and doubt.

In your actions you show me how you feel,
I am unwanted, unloved, and even I suspect truly hated,
Slowly into the shadows, for you wish this of me, I will fade,
For my heart is now killed and to rest is laid,
In 10 years of your 17 years of life, you made me the heel,
My heart against the hot coals have been deeply thrashed and graded.

I will not stay where I am not wanted my son,
I pray that you will grow up strong and a peaceful man,
I return home soon to my Native band,
For four nights ago you and others showed your true colors and it was done.

I reach out to you and all I get is empty air,
Do you think this is truly fair,
I try to look within your eyes,
And what I see and read only makes my heart cry.

I tried to be a good mother to you,
Even breathed for you, returning you to pink from blue,
At one time it was you and me against the world, my dear one,
But now what's happened cannot be redone.

Now I will do as you wish and I will leave,
But I pray that you truly will become as you believe,
My heart is empty now without you my son,
As now our paths have separated, and has begun.

As I continue to grow old and gray,
I pray that one day I will see you once again,
And that our hearts will truly and deeply mend,
This I sincerely do so pray.

As we separate and go our own ways,
I pray that you will remember me in you future days,
Hear me my son, for my days may be but a few,
For to you I am like no other,
For you see my son, I will always be your mother,
And my son, no matter what, I will always love you....
