A Lesson My Son Taught Me

It had been so long since I held you. It felt wonderful to see you, hold you and
talk to you again. I travelled two days to get to where you were but it was worth it! I came in the early morning hours and crept silently into your room where you lay sleeping. It felt so good to kiss your little cheek. You stirred for a moment, opened your sleepy little eyes and said, "mom!". I will never forget the look of happiness on your little face! It is forever imbedded in my memory and my heart. We spent that day doing things all little boys like to do. We travelled to a fishing spot and spent some time there. Yes, I did try to bait my own hook. We never caught anything but it was fun! We went to the carnival and I had fun watching you on all the rides, your brown hair blowing up in the wind as you rode the mini-roller coaster! Then we ordered ice cream til it melted all over us! Then out of no where you looked at me and said, " I like you mom." I didnt know what to say. A little boy made me speechless! I never forgot that! It made me think and realize. Little things in a child'life means so much to them and they like to share it with us, adults who may have forgotten the small joys in life. I too, forgot what it felt like
to ride a roller coaster and feel the awesome wind through my hair! I forgot how sticky melting ice cream is! I even forgot how squishy worms feel as you bait them on your hook! These are life reminders are they not? My son reminded me to take time and enjoy all the sensations life offers! To those who have children, enjoy the wonders of the world they want to share with you! Each day is a new discovery and so it should be with us!

I'll be home soon with my son and look forward to many more discoveries we
shall make together!

Have a good day!! :-)
