A Connection With The Past

Have you ever felt there was a reason you must do something to make amends for a moment of ignorance. Where it becomes so important for you to do this it must be done.  This gave me a conncetion to the past. I had the honor of attending a pipe ceremony and made the mistake of doing something I shouldnt have. I dishonored myself and lost respect. I felt inside I must do something to make amends for what I had done. It bothered me so much that at one point I was ready to cut off my hair as a symbol of giving up a part of me for this. But I was a coward I could not do this. I prayed for another way. Then It came to me. I had never done this I decided I would bead a bag for the one I felt I had disrespected to badly.

I had no idea where to begin. I purchased a loom and began. Before I knew it flowers were jumping from my mind. One after the other none stop no 2 blossoms alike. Then I bought the cloth for the main bag. A confusion hit I didnt know where to go from there. I prayed again. That night the one who the bag was for came in a dream. We walked through a place I had never been before. He brought me to a house where a woman sat she said I will show you how to do this. She sat and taught me how to bead on the cloth. The following months were filled with what she taught me. The bag came to life. Everything fit in. It all came together.

Later on I had learned from reading which i dont know nor can I say this is truth but I learned that the Blackfoot woman believed they had a dream twin who teaches what you need. This made me spread with goosebumps as I am Blackfoot by my maternal grandfather.

I gave this bag to the one it was for and he wears it proudly. When we are together he tells all we now have a very special bond.

I am happy thatI could reearn his respect and see a part of my ancestors as well. It was a lesson well learned.

Have a beautiful day
