Has it been in your blood since you were born? No matter where you are do you just want to get up and dance, and do a double pirouette, or a leap, or just do anything that expresses how you're feeling, or to just flat out move with the music? I do! Being a dancer is extrememly demanding, and sometimes, we don't get all the credit we deserve. I must say my feet have never ever bleed before thankgoodness, but I've gotten blisters or the sides of my feet have been really sore. I've taught myself
for probably 2-3 years now. I started pointe on my own, and I still do pointe on my own. Three times a week I do a Pilates based work out in my room, so I can tone my abs and my obliques and thigh muscles. Most professional dancers in New York City and all over do the work out, because it's GREAT for tonining and stretching, and staying in shape. It's the way a lot of celebrities have their great bodies, along with us dancers. My advice with dance, would be to do it from you heart, and just dance it how you feel it. When I do it that way, I dance my best, and it looks far more beautiful, and you can tell that I am putting my heart into it. Sometimes dancing has been my only refuge from pain I have felt. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't, that's it nearly impossible, and that no matter how high you reach, you'll never make it, because in a way, I feel like I'm living proof of it... as is Erin Brockovich, who couldn't even barely feed her kids and has more money than anything right now, and she had no education to start with. Your dreams are not as high as you may think you have to reach to achieve them. I know mine aren't, and you know why? Because I am a woman of faith, and I believe that if I put my mind to something and never lose focus of that, I'll go anywhere I want to go. Don't ever stop living your dream!!!!! |
