Welcome to the first Nation of Wrestling columns. In hopeful a long line of interesting
and new out look on the sports entertainment. With a lot happening in the WWF, WCW
and ECW. It is interesting to see were the present shoots are heading.
First there is the WCW. For the most part it seems very boring. Now dont
misunderstand. There is a huge talent pool and the stories are slowly improving. There is
the talk of all the things that are going behind the scene that limit the direction that there
are able to take which would have to be there first major failing. One just has to look at
the WWF and see that with Vince Mcmahon has sole creative control. There is no power
struggle for control in the WWF. On the other hand the WCW there seems to be too many
people trying to run the show. Each person desire to be the one who dictates which
direction the company takes.
The talent is great, Lance Storm my Canadian Hero seems to be getting a major
push, Although, it seems strange to have Lance Storm building the Canadian vs USA
angle that the Harts did a couple years ago. Then they have Lance and his stable have to
cheat on Canadian soil just to beat the MIA cmon!! Would it not be better for WCW to
build a Canadian audience at least have the Canadians win on their home soil. This is some
of the reason that WCW is falling faster then a rock in the rankings.
WCW continues to have there Stars copy the moves of WWF stars. This is
disappointment as there talent is amazing. Booker T is one of the most amazing wrestlers
in sports entertainment. Instead of letting Booker T shine on his own merit. The WCW is
content to let him be a second rate Rock rip off. Let Booker T shine WCW.
What is going on with Goldberg. There are rumours that those in control, want to
get rid of him. That might be true, or is it another shoot. If it is true, Goldberg would be a
fool to fight the powers. Goldberg is supposedly mad at the fact they made him a heel. So
what does he think? Does he really think that he is the unstoppable monster that WCW
made him out to be? Goldberg you must realize that most other federations are not going
to want you. WWF has a tonne of stars, and even if he was brought into the mix. Does
Goldberg think that Vince would allow him to be that unstoppable monster. With the
superstars that are already in the WWF. Goldberg would soon discover that, he would be
losing matches to the Rock, HHH, Undertaker, and probably even Jericho. How would
that sit with Goldbergs ego. Its about the show not the individual stars.
Its still seems up in the air over what is going on with Hogan and the other ancient
stars. Here is hoping that the WCW sees the light and gets rid of the old stars. Continue
to let the young stars to carry the show. They are the future of the company. After all how
long can WCW think that the fans desire to see the same old matches. That go on for ever
and are not that exciting to watch. So let us hope that WCW continues to let the young
stars and talent take the show to the next level. Then, we can finally have the exciting and
entertaining Monday night wars.
The WWF has some of the most entertaining shows around. With top notch talent
to pool to pull from. The great matchs are endless. Or so you would assume. Thought
the WWF is content to have the same match ups. In those match ups, the babyfaces are
not content to win over the heels. No it seems that WWF has decided that the babyfaces
are unstoppable. For example the Undertaker, who destroyed the Big show. This makes
for boring matches that are just unbelievable. The Dudleys wining over Benoit and Angle.
The WWF spent months building these guys up as great Techinical wrestlers only to have
them lose against one trick ponies. Thought I enjoy the Dudleys the table is only cool
about the first 100 times.
With summerslam fast approaching there are a lot of questions on who is going to
win. Thought for our predictions one must read brads article. (ignore the self plug). One
of the matches that shows the state of DX. Both Road Dog and X-pac are taking on the
one and Only Rikishi. All that can be said is, Is this how far DX has fallen. It seems that
DX is now just HHHs loser side kicks. This from the guys who were the originals to push
the envelope. One just has to wait and see how low DX can fall.
One thing that is great is the Hard core belt. With Steve Blackman as champion,
one can always count on a great demonstration of martial arts. Thought most of the
competition lacks the talent of Blackman. If Blackman could brush up on his mic
techniques, he could be a really huge star.
The Jericho and Benoit feud seems kind of lost. Though the audience can always
count on these two to put on a great match. One cant help but think hey havent we seen
this feud before. The only feud that seems kind of new, is the Angle and HHH feud. This
is a great feud over the love of Steph. Why two men might be content to fight over her,
is beyond anyones guess. It would be more entertaining to have both these combats come
out and admit there in love with her, and fight for her. Another great shoot that would
work is if it was a huge gimmick and both HHH, and Angle would turn on The Rock.
With Angle helping HHH win the title. There are lot of opinions for the WWF. They seem
to be heading in the write direction.
Well this has been a run down of the Nation of Wrestling. Be sure to check back
after summerslam. For a full review, with Brad and Gene. Have a great day, and
Remember that wresting may be fake, but hey what isnt.
