Fleet plan to retire #7 in honor of S White
(8-2-09) New York is honoring their first great star of the franchise, by retiring number 7 in honor of their Closer which they held on to for six seasons before trading him to Denver after the 6.0 season. White number will technically be retired after Week 9, yet will have their official event of retiring at the seasons finally game or will be pushed back if the Fleet make the playoffs, and will then be honored during the Division Series. Oddly enough the last time the Fleet made the playoffs was the final season of White in New York.
Newton Hagey gets max-deal with Fleet (4-18-09) Newton Hagey was not offered a single deal by Boston, and not even another one-season deal. Instead Hagey accepted a max deal with rival New York, four seasons worth 16 million. Hagey will be under pressure to fix the under-preforming Fleet, and have them finally return to the playoffs. |
