Pageants |
I started doing pageants when I was 9 years old. I begged my mom until she let me do the Miss Iowa National Pre-Teen and Petite Pageant that summer. Considering I knew NOTHING about pageants, I did pretty well. I won an Academic Excellence Award, 2nd runner up to Photo Miss, the Spirit Award and a trophy for program ads. The next summer I did the same pageant again and I won the Just Say No Award, 1st runner up to Photo Miss and a trophy for program ads. I won the Just Say No Award again the third year along with another trophy for program ads. I did this pageant for my fourth and last time when I was 12. I won the Just Say No Award, Academic Excellence Award, trophy for program ads, 2nd runner up Western Wear Modeling and was a Top 8 Finalist. Rumor has it that I was in 5th place but the director could not verify the 5th-8th places. I had planned on going to Orlando to compete in the National Princess Pageant for state runners-up but I decided not to do that. I then participated in the American Rose Pageant System for the first time and won Davenport City Queen, along with winning the Talent, Civic Service and Scholar Awards. I had one of the top 5 scores in my age bracket, in the nation. I then went on to win a state title including the Talent, Civic Service and Scholar Awards. Because another girl from Iowa and I were so close in score and I still had a top national score, they offered me the Illinois State title, which I took because my dad works in Illinois. They were only able to do this as they had no Jr from Illinois. I'm so glad that I did! Because on November 27th, I found out that I had the 2nd highest score for juniors and won the National Jr Title, I also got 3rd runner up National Talent and was a Scholar Finalist. The top Jr scorer, from Iowa, won the Supreme title. I really like this type of pageant as it's based solely on merit and not what you look like, how you walk, how you talk, etc. I am very happy to represent the American Rose Pageant System and hope to do a lot of traveling this year presenting my platform, attending fairs, festivals and parades, and just getting out and meeting the people of our great country. |
