The Turkish Final was held on February 28th at the TRT Studios in Ankara, hosted by Bülent Özveren & Ekin Olcayto. The winner was chosen by an "expert" jury.

Tüzmen previously came 2nd in the 1996 Turkish Final, and also took part in 1997. At the ESC, he came 14th. Sebnem Paker represented Turkey in the 1996 & 1997 ESC.
