"När vindarna viskar mitt namn" - Roger Pontare
"Never do I betray my country, when the winds whisper my name"
The Swedish Final was held on March 10th at the Operahouse in Gothenburg. There were 10 hosts - Björn Skifs, Arja Saijonmaa, Elisabeth Andreassen, Lasse Holm, Lena Philipsson, Loa Falkman, Lasse Berghagen, Lotta Engberg, Tommy Körberg and Carola - all of whom had participated in previous Swedish Finals. The winning song was chosen by a mixture of regional juries and televoting. Roger Pontare was the favourite with both.

Roger Pontare previously represented Sweden in the 1994 Eurovision, and came 5th in last years Swedish Final. The song was performed in English at the Eurovision as "When spirits are calling my name" and came 7th.
