1996 PRE-SELECTION
The pre-selection was held on March 20th-21st. There were 29 countries competing to join Norway in the Eurovision, and the top 22 went forward to the contest. The qualifiers were chosen by the votes of 30 juries (one in each of the participating countries plus one in Norway), with 8 members on each jury. The jurors listened to an audio cassette of the 29 songs at least 3 times (over 2 days).

Although Finland & Hungary scored the same number of points, Finland qualified for the ESC as they had a higher top vote. The results above come to a total of 1738 points, whereas the votes of 30 juries should come to 1740 points so 2 points are missing somewhere.
