The Portuguese Final was held on March 8th at the Pavilhão Atlântico in Lisbon, hosted by Manuel Luís Goucha & Alexandra Lencastre. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 11 regional juries.

Rui Bandeira came 21st at the ESC, where one of his backing singers was Fernanda Lopes who took part in the 1994 Portuguese Final.
