The Norwegian Final was held at the Oslo Spektrum on March 21st, hosted by Elisabeth Andreasson & Jahn Teigen. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 10 regional juries.

Merethe Trøan previously came 3rd in the 1985 Norwegian Final as part of the group Pastel. Tor Endresen was a backing singer for Norway in ESC 1988. Wenche Myhre represented Germany in 1968. At the ESC, Merethe came 18th.
