"Hemel en aarde" - Edsilia
"Heaven and earth are moving when you stand in front of me"
The Dutch Final was held at the RAI in Amsterdam on 8th March, hosted by Paul de Leeuw and Linda de Mol. It was certainly the best Dutch Final for a very long time indeed, if not the best Dutch Final ever. The voting contained a 50-50 weighting between a panel of "experts" and the televoting public. One of the "experts" was Sandra Reemer who had sung for The Netherlands in 1972, 1976 and 1979. "Hemel en aarde" was definitely the best song, but there were other good ones too, such as "Ze kwamen overzee" and "Alsof je bij me bent". A few weeks after the final, a Dutch radio station claimed that Edsilia had been disqualified from the contest, but thankfully this turned out to be an April Fools Day joke that many people fell for!
