The Icelandic Final was held on February 15th at Háskólabíó in Reykjavik, hosted by Logi Bergmann Eiðsson & Gísli Marteinn Baldursson. The winning song was chosen by televoting. One of the backing singers at the Icelandic Final (for the majority of the songs) was Kristján Gíslason who represented Iceland in ESC 2001. Birgitta Haukdal previously came 7th in the 2001 Icelandic Final. At the ESC she came equal 8th, where one of her backing singers was Regína Ósk Óskarsdóttir who was also a backing singer for Iceland in ESC 2001. The other backing singer at the ESC was Margret Eir who took part in the 1992 & 1993 Icelandic Finals. Jóhanna Vigdís Arnardóttir was a backing singer for Iceland in the 1999 ESC.
