The Finnish final was held on March 2nd at the Typhon Hall in Turku, hosted by Kati Bergman. The winning song was chosen by the votes of an "expert" jury, amongst whom were Finnish conductor Ossi Runne and Tina Peterson who was in the group Beat that represented Finland in ESC 1990.

Kaija Kärkinen came 20th at the ESC. Riki Sorsa represented Finland in ESC 1981, while Kirka did the same in 1984.
