"Diamond of night" - Evelin Samuel & Camille
The Estonian Eurolaul was held at the ETV studios in Tallinn on January 30th, hosted by Romi Erlach and Marko Reikop. The winner was chosen by a panel of 10 international judges which included 1997 Eurovision winner Katrina, Bjorgvin Halldorsson who represented Iceland in 1995, ESC conductors Anders Berglund and Noel Kelehan, Nana Mouskouri who represented Luxembourg in 1963 and Israeli composer/conductor Kobi Oshrat.

Evelin Samuel previously came 5th, 6th and 8th in the 1994 Estonian Final, 5th and 6th in 1996 and 2nd in 1998. She was also a backing singer for Estonia in the 1997 ESC. At the Eurovision, Evelin came 6th. One of her backing singers was Anneli Toevere who took part in the 1994 Estonian final.
