"Fyra bugg och en coca-cola" - Lotta Engberg
"Four gums and a coca-cola, play your freestyle with cool music"
The Swedish Final was held on February 21st at Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg, hosted by Fredrik Belfrage. The 12 songs were reduced to 6 finalists and the winning song was then chosen by the votes of 9 juries containing members of the public which were split according to the ages of the jurors.

Lotta Engberg previously came 2nd in the 1984 Swedish Final (as Lotta Pedersen) and was a backing singer for Sweden in ESC 1984. At the ESC, where the song title was changed to "Boogaloo", Lotta Engberg came 12th.
