"Tourada" - Fernando Tordo
The Portuguese Final was held on February 26th at the Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon, hosted by Alice Cruz & Artur Agonstinho. The winner was chosen by the votes of 18 regional juries and an "expert" jury.

Fernando Tordo had already taken part in the Portuguese Finals of 1969 (5th), 1971 (3rd) and 1972 (8th). At the ESC he came equal 10th. Tonicha represented Portugal in ESC 1971, while Simone de Oliveira did the same in 1965 and 1969.
