The Norwegian Final was held on March 22nd at the NRK TV Studios in Oslo, hosted by Åse Kleveland who had represented Norway in 1966. The winning song was chosen by the votes of a jury of 9 "experts". After the voting, there was a tie for first place, therefore the "experts" had to vote again awarding 1 point to the song they wanted to win, with Sverre Kjelsberg and Mattis Hætta winning the tie by 5-4.

Sverre Kjelsberg & Mattis Hætta came 16th at the Eurovision. Anita Skorgan represented Norway in 1977 and 1979, and Jahn Teigen did the same in 1978.
