The Finnish Final was held on February 22nd at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Tutteli Mensonen. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 7 regional juries.

Monica Aspelund previously came 6th in the 1976 Finnish Final, and took part in the 1975 Finnish Semi-Finals. At the ESC, she came 10th. Lasse Mårtenson represented Finland in ESC 1964, and Viktor Klimenko did the same the following year.
