Eve (and Adam)
Home... Biblefaith... Mistakes...
Ah yes, these two.  Created directly by God, in regular contact with the Big Guy, given a free garden paradise and pretty much had everything they needed.  They didn't have clothes, but they didn't need them.  Sorted, right?  Well, erm, no.  Eve goes for a walk one day, up to the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (catchy) which God told them not to go anywhere near.  Good move number 1.  A serpent speaks to her and tells her to eat some of the fruit.  So she does, and it's downhill for humanity from then on.  D'oh!  Despite the fact that a) it's a talking snake - first sign that it's NOT A REAL SNAKE, and b) given the choice, would you listen to the devil in the guise of a talking snake or the All-Mighty Creator of Heaven and Earth?  What do you reckon?  Well, actually, we might think this was a bit silly of Eve (and Adam, who ate the fruit as well - smooth), but here is the point - if Adam and Eve hadn't done it, somebody else would have, and pretty soon too.  We are human.  That means we are, by definition, stupidEven though we think we are as close as possible to God, as Adam and Eve were, we still mess up.  God knows this - he made us and he knows everything about us - but he still forgives.  What an amazing God we have!
