What is No man's land ?

This is a lanscape photo for No man's land.

No man's land is a disputed land.

Land of dispute

During the First World war, No man's land described the area between two trenches. It was a very dangerous place for the soldiers. Many would die trying to reclaim it. It was a strategic area between two enemy lines.

Nomans Land

In 1666, the English found an unclaimed piece of land. The island was called Noman's Land, or the Isle of Man. It was near Martha's Vineyard, in Massachusetts.
No man's land may come from Noman's Land.

No man's land by Denis Tanovic

Released in 2001, this film is built around external conflicts. Two soldiers, a Bosnian and a Serbian, are trapped in a trench. The two men argue over politics while a third man lies on a landmine. He can't be moved and there is no way to save him.

Hell is other people

Denis Tanovic questions the role of peace-keeping forces and the media in a war situation. It reminds us of the play Huis-clos by Jean-Paul Sartre. Men have to aknowledge each other to exist. Hell is other people. We live in an area of uncertainty.
