My Thesis
The rise in divorce rates are quite appalling, growing from the two hundred thousands in 1940 to one million one hundred thousand in 1998, there is an obvious problem at hand. The media has played a large role in this problem. The media's unrealistic portrayals of men and women in romantic relationships has contributed to the rising divorces by causing discontentment in marriages when the media induced ideals people often hold to fail. Though there are some problem solving methods that could be introduced on a large scale, such as media sensorship, I believe that the answer is critical thinking. If we are to deflect the unrealistic media messages sent forth to us every day, we must use logic and our own intellect.
