Units: Over Coming the Odds, Civil Rights, and The Holocaust. Students
will explore these units through reading, writing, and speaking activities.

and descriptive writing skills.
Read and discuss nonfiction
with attention to purpose, main idea, audience, author's style.
Examine author's persuasive
techniques.
Identify, define, and use vocabulary
contained in a structured program.
