LAX Meeting minutes December 5, 2007 Glenn Harvey’s residence

Tentative 2008 game schedule was distributed, subject to field availability for all. It is on sportability.com through the whsbla.org website < http://www.sportability.com/spx/Leagues/schedule.asp?LgID=16876&Filter=125706 >. Less travel than last year. Discussion of whether to organize pre-season games as with Roosevelt last year. 1st day of eligible game is March 8 after 10 days of practice day beginning Feb. 25.
Everyone should have forms in & fees paid by February 8. Plan to invite Parents to organizational meeting on January 30 at Hale for info & signup. Put in Yahoo email & Hale bulletin. Trying to limit registration to web-only. Regular board meeting February 6 will follow up on players who have not registered.
Bobby talked to prospective assistant coach “Taylor,” who is very interested subject to schedule constraints at his job. He played with last year’s assistant, Mike, with a greater teaching orientation. He has not coached before. He will submit a resume, get CPR/1st Aid, we will ask him questions & do a background check. It would be nice to get that done this month.
Plan B if Taylor can’t do it is to work through WALAX & network of players on adult league teams. There are supposed to be plenty of interested players, but also several open coaching positions. Ask assistant to attend 2-day conference at SPU to train coaches.
Starz event this weekend, the Space Needle Shootout at Starfire. Corbin is playing. Kevin is interviewing with Notre Dame de Namour lax coach (videotape).
“Count Me In” online registration demo available. We can customize a web site in their domain for our registration, with our photos, etc. Half hour on phone to set it up. Put a link on our home page. Tentative meeting at my office Wed. 12/12 11:30.
What to do if the team doesn’t go to the Lynden tournament? That was a good team-building experience. Even going out for pizza the Saturday before the season starts. The “Ropes course?” (Adventura on the east side; teamwork but expensive) Paintball? (Bobby would play; Maple Valley 3 outdoor areas, Splat Attack).
